Jim Liebau, Founder, Creative Director, and CEO
Jim's expansive knowledge of design, specimen grade landscape materials and hardscape expertise have made his work well known in southeastern Michigan. His work has been seen in "Hour" magazine. Jim and his staff of landscape architects listen to their client's ideas in order to incorporate them into the unique designs that he creates for their home or business. He understands that each customer desires a particular look, whether it is formal or more natural and helps them to achieve that look to flow smoothly with their home and surroundings. 
Angela Warner, Office Administrator
Angela is the office manager who brings 18 + years administrative, human resource, accounting and management experience. She assists in the development and business aspect of your landscape project. She manages and oversees the administration and practices within the office. Her friendly demeanor helps to make working with our company an enjoyable experience. Jesus Castro, Project Manager
Jesus has been an employee of West Oaks Landscape for 20 years. His experience in site management and creative abilities have made him a valuable asset to our company. He manages multiple crews and is able to work with clients to make changes necessary to the project. Jesus is outgoing and efficient and we are glad to have him managing our staff. |
Cindy Liebau, CFO and Advertising Manager
Cindy is the behind-the-scenes leader of the company. She studied at Lawrence Technological University and keeps our offices running smoothly and efficiently. Cindy has worked for the past 28 years with Jim to establish West Oaks Landscape & Design as one of the leading companies in SE Michigan. Ron Liebau, Project Manager
Ron is the newest addition to our team. He has a vast resume of management skills. Ron directly supervises our team members and ensures everything is running on schedule. He assists in analyzing potential problems and coming up with creative solutions. Ron also meets with the clients if they have questions or concerns. He is a great asset to our company. 
Hans Essenmacher, Site Leader
Hans has worked for West Oaks Landscape for 8 years. He is a team leader who trains new employees and manages job sites. He has the landscape and mechanical experience to get our projects done in a timely manner with a positive attitude. Tom Brennan, Site Manager
Tom works to make sure that all projects are finished in a timely manner and is proficient in fixing any landscape or hardscape issues that might come up while the project is in progress. Tom also analyzes landscape jobs at quarterly intervals, to make sure that the products installed are working properly and that the nursery stock is in good health. |
Our Story
West Oaks Landscape and Design, Inc. was founded in 1988. The owner and President, Jim Liebau, put himself through Eastern Michigan University by working for a landscape construction company while also managing Farmer John's Greenhouse, in Farmington Hills, Michigan. While learning the trade, he came to love the design and creation of a living work of art. He so enjoyed working with clients to develop a unique design for each home that he started his own company.
At the same time, his new wife, Cindy, attended Lawrence Technical University majoring in business management, and helped him to establish a well-run company that took great pride in their respectful treatment of clients, employees and vendors.
As the years have passed, he has honed his skills and specializes in upscale custom residential design and construction. Many of our employees have been with us for over 10 years, including Jesus Castro, our dedicated head foreman, who has worked tirelessly for us for over 20 years.
West Oaks now has additional landscape architects and masons on staff to provide quality service and installation. We have our own crews of sub-contractors to make each project move quickly and efficiently. Each professional on our staff is proud to treat every client as they would wish to be treated as each original landscape is designed and installed with the client's needs and desires in mind.
